Street Talk
Featuring Photographs by: Wolf Suschitzky & Vivian Maier
This exhibition in the Photography as Propaganda trilogy illustrates photographers’ keen observation of streets, walls, windows and billboards to send messages using words and symbols. (Other in the series: Messages From The Wilderness and Politics & The Utopian Dream.)
In some cases, these photographs are highly personal. Other times, whimsical. Often with a cause – either social or commercial. While “Street Talk” sharply contrasts with the beautiful natural landscapes of the “Messages From The Wilderness” exhibition, and the often harsh, man-made conflicts shown in “Politics And The Uptopian Dream”, they all underscore the impact potential of the visual image. The exhibition contains the photography of: Wolf Suschitzky, Aaron Siskind, Peter Sekaer, Arnold Newman, Thomas Neff, John Gutmann, Walker Evans, Berenice Abbott and Jules Aaron. It features the recently discovered work of Vivian Maier.
Featured in this exhibition is the work of numerous photographers, five are highlighted below.
