Lucinda Bunnen (1930 – 2022) was a noted photographer, book artist and patron of the arts. In 1973 she was one of the founders of Nexus, now the Atlanta Contemporary Arts Center, and in 1992, she and several other photography enthusiasts, founded the Photo Forum at The High Museum. Bunnen is the author of four books, and her work is in the collection of the Museum of Modern Art, The Whitney Museum of American Art, the Pushkin Museum in Moscow, Russia, the Smithsonian in Washington D.C. and the High Museum. Bunnen has been chosen to receive the 2013 Nexus Award. The Atlanta Contemporary Arts Center created the Nexus Award in 2010 to publicly acknowledge an individual or individuals who have made a profound contribution to contemporary visual art in Atlanta and beyond. The Nexus Award name acknowledges the history of ACAC, which began as Nexus in 1973 and has grown to be a recognized leader in the exhibition and understanding of contemporary art and visual culture.
