Suschitzky who resides in London, England, is an accomplished still photographer, however the majority of his professional career was as a cinematographer in the film industry. With nearly 200 feature, documentary, and short film credits to his name, his career has spanned over 44 years, and included such note worthy films as, Get Carter – 1971 and Ulysses – 1967.

These photographs were featured in the recent Lumière exhibition: Street Talk, and are still available for viewing.

Pushing Boundaries: Portraits by Robert Weingarten will present 15 of Weingarten’s digital composite portraits of iconic Americans including Sandra Day O’Connor, Hank Aaron, and Chuck Close. In addition, there are more than two dozen portraits by other photographers from the Photographic History Collection to provide context about the long history of combination printing and portraiture.

Lumière provides a diverse range of photographic art through its’ own proprietary collection, regular exhibitions and acquisition activities on behalf of clients.

The gallery has work from over 75 photographers. They range from masters of the 19th and 20th century to more contemporary practitioners. All are established, with works in important museum collections, as well as having participated in multiple exhibitions. Most have had multiple books and catalogues published on their work.The gallery’s collection is available in a virtual mode through this web site (www.lumieregallery.net) as well as in person at our physical location, in the Buckhead section of Atlanta Georgia.

Exhibitions are augmented by lectures in partnership with leading institutions, talks at the gallery and through film screenings. Recent exhibitions may also be viewed on line for up to two years from the date of the show. Many of the artists’ talks and film screenings are also available on line.

Lumière was founded to advance the understanding and appreciation of photography. The gallery has also supported a range of photography initiatives at the secondary school and university levels.

About Us

Lumière was founded by Robert Yellowlees. It reflects his experiences as a collector of art for over 35 years in addition to having served on the boards of major arts institutions. His 40 year business career centered on the computer and information industries, including pioneering work with image processing technologies. He has served in leadership positions on the boards of major arts and educational institutions. This, in addition to sponsorship of a number of programs, books and films designed to advance the understanding and appreciation of photography. He founded Lumière to extend that reach.

Tony Casadonte has had a diverse 30 year career in photography. Prior to joining Lumière as gallery director, he managed the leading commercial photography laboratory in the Southeast. In that capacity, he was actively involved with professional photographers to support their processing and printing requirements. He is a graduate of Rochester Institute of Technology’s photography program and spent a significant period in the information industry, having been a partner in an interactive web design firm. In his spare time, he is an active photographer.

Laura Noel, following graduation from Duke University and an internship at Aperture Foundation, has pursued a professional photographic career for almost 20 years. She has been actively engaged in editorial photography, while developing her own portfolio for gallery exhibition. Laura’s work has been exhibited in multiple galleries. She also holds a Master of Fine Arts degree from the University of Georgia, with a specialty in photography education. She also teaches as an adjunct professor at Emory University.
